How we work
We recommend engaging with a structural engineer consultant as early as possible. Here’s how we work throughout the RIBA Plan of Works:
- Stages 0 to 1: We assess project viability and provide technical guidance, working alongside your architect.
- Stages 2 to 3: We identify cost savings in the design, prevent structural surprises after planning and produce initial structural framing and civils schematics.
- Stage 4: We work with architects and other consultants on the final design.
- Stage 5: We are on hand to answer queries during manufacturing and construction.
Having now worked with Darren and the team at dbstructural across a number of high-end residential client builds, we can say with first-hand experience and confidence that they consistently demonstrate professionalism, expertise, and dedication to delivering top-notch results. Areas we cover
Nationwide
Much of our work are across the following areas, but we provide structural and civil engineering services for projects across the UK. Most of the design process, from initial concept through to detailed calculations and drawings, can be carried out remotely, so the location of your project rarely limits what we can offer. Where a site visit, inspection or monitoring is needed, we arrange it with you.
Bedfordshire
Our home county! We support homeowners, developers and contractors in Bedford, Luton, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and surrounding towns. Much of the county sits on clay soils, so early advice on foundations helps avoid costly surprises.
Hertfordshire
We work with clients across Hertfordshire, including some of its most sought-after areas such as St Albans, Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Radlett, Chorleywood and Bushey. In these high-value locations, clients often seek bespoke replacement dwellings, extensions, loft and basement conversions and open-plan reconfiguration, where the structural design needs to be efficient and carefully detailed.
Buckinghamshire
From Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Milton Keynes to the villages of the Chilterns, we design extensions, new homes and multi-unit schemes. Where a site falls within a protected landscape or conservation area, we work with your architect to keep the design buildable and in line with local planning frameworks.
Oxfordshire
Oxfordshire has a high proportion of period and listed buildings alongside new residential growth. We provide sensitive structural solutions for heritage alterations as well as efficient design for new developments in Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Witney and surrounding areas.
North London and Surrey
We help homeowners, architects and developers across London and surrounding counties such as Surrey. We are familiar with the constraints of tight urban sites, conservation areas and party wall matters.
